Our Neighbourhood, Our Plan
The Garneau Community League is proposing to expand Garneau’s existing Special Character Residential Area through an amendment to the Scona District Plan.
The Garneau is one of Edmonton’s oldest neighbourhoods and is named after one of its first inhabitants, Laurent Garneau (1840-1921), a former Manitoba Métis rebel and Hudson’s Bay Company employee who settled in the area with his wife and family around 1874.
Present day Garneau is home to a diverse set of residents: from students to families to seniors. The neighbourhood also has a huge number of small local coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, and more! Check out our list of great places to go in Garneau.
