Our Neighbourhood, Our Plan
Planning for growth that purposefully integrates density, heritage and diversity.
What’s going on?
The Garneau Community League is proposing to expand Garneau’s existing Special Character Residential Area through an amendment to the Scona District Plan. Currently, the Special Character Area only includes a limited number of city blocks.
Why are we doing that?
This proposal was initiated in response to concerns raised by residents. As our neighbourhood continues to densify, Garneau residents are looking to preserve our heritage character and ensure continued livability for residents of all demographics and life stages.
What will this accomplish?
With this community-led amendment, we hope to preserve heritage character while exceeding the City of Edmonton’s density targets.
