Apartment and Condo Waste Collection is Changing

Single-family homes in Edmonton already sort their waste into food scraps, recycling, and garbage. By the end 2027, people living in apartments and condos across the city will be too.

This change is coming to apartments and condos in Garneau mid-April.

Here’s what to expect:

New containers will be dropped off at your existing garbage disposal location. Residents will be expected to separate food scraps and recyclables from your garbage and place them in the correct container.

Ahead of the rollout at every building, residents of each unit will receive a food scraps pail, a What Goes Where sorting poster and an educational booklet. A few weeks later, a Waste Outreach Educator will also visit your home to answer your questions.
