Adopt a day at the Garneau Plaza: Join Our Community Cleanup Crew
You may have noticed some changes at the Community League Plaza (109 St & 84 Ave) over the past several months, including the rainbow picnic tables and a pollinator garden.
We would love for the plaza to become a safe, vibrant community space. We are hoping you will consider joining a team of 2-4 (more are welcome) other neighbours in "adopting" the plaza for 1 day/week for the remainder of the outdoor season.
Priority Growth Area Rezoning Project Update and Save the Date (August 15)
This week the league received an update from the City of Edmonton on the Priority Growth Area Rezoning project. Garneau has been selected for targeted, proactive rezonings; The City will be hosting workshops and online engagement to help inform which specific sites should be rezoned, and they are planning a University-Garneau workshop on August 15.

As you may recall, City Council approved the proposal on April 23, 2024, to develop a four-storey supportive housing apartment building with 34 units, including five barrier-free units designed for people with disabilities.
District Plan Update: A call for more diverse housing in Garneau
The Garneau Community League wants diverse housing types in the community. We cannot achieve this without specified direction within the Scona District Plan.
Summer Green Shacks
The Green Shack program is a free City of Edmonton drop-in program catered to children ages 6 to 12; however, all are welcome. Program leaders host games, sports, crafts, music, drama and special events daily (on weekdays) throughout the summer. Check out some of the ones near The Garneau.
